Pr. Kayla and Sheryl W. represented Ascension at synod assembly the past two days. Hosted at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale, clergy and representatives from each ELCA congregation in the southeastern PA synod gathered to ponder anew what the Almighty can do. And that’s a wrap for Family Nights until next September. We celebrated with ice cream and kite flying! 🪁🍦 We also took a moment to reflect on all that we did together this year. Here are some of the highlights: -We learned a body prayer to help us understand the Lord’s Prayer. Our favorite movements were associated with the petitions, “your will be done” and “save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.” -We served so many of our neighbors this year! Our favorite projects were making cookie boxes and delivering them to our local fire department, baking dog treats for Bark in the Park, and planting flowers in the gardens right here at Ascension.

This past Sunday, we welcomed Elliott to the Body of Christ through the Sacrament of Baptism. While Elliott felt the splash of water, we remembered that our entire lives are carried in the waves of Christ’s love. Our belonging is in the Good Shepherd whose goodness and mercy follows us for all our days. Thanks be to God!

All ages sing unto the Lord! Our choir practices at 9AM on Sunday mornings before our 10AM worship under the leadership of Peter de Mets. Come and make a joyful noise!

Many thanks to Anne C. for leading us in a gardening project at Family Nights this evening. We’ll meet one more time before the summer on Monday, May 19th from 5:45pm to 7pm. Family Nights is our intergenerational night of fellowship filled with a simple pizza dinner, a devotion, and a service project. All ages are welcome!

Sunrise worship at 6AM 🌅, community breakfast at 7:30AM☕️, egg hunt at 9:30AM 🍬, and finally our festive worship service with Holy Communion featuring our Bell Choir and ALC Choir at 10AM 💐

You are invited to join us as we journey together during Holy Week. While every Sunday at Ascension celebrates the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, this week in our church year takes a particular shape as we remember Jesus’ final days to the cross followed by the joyful surprise of an empty tomb. Ascension is a small church with a big heart. We are a friendly and joyous community that centers our life on the proclamation of the gospel. We believe that the good news of Jesus Christ affects every facet of our lives, especially where we are hurt and lonely.
