“God’s Work. Our Hands” Sunday: Breakfast Bags ~ September 9

“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday is an annual opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans:  that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

Following Worship on Sunday, September 9, we will assemble Breakfast Bags for Aid For Friends.  This organization provides prepared meals and visits to homebound elderly or disabled clients in the five counties around Philadelphia.

Each Breakfast Bag will include a packet of instant oatmeal, a box of raisins, a packet of peanut butter crackers, a juice box, a packet of instant coffee or a tea bag, and a notecard.  Donations are greatly appreciated and may be placed in the kitchen.

This project is supplemented with an Action Team grant from Thrivent Financial.
